Myofascial Mobilization and Manipulation
What is fascia exactly? Think of fascia as a connective tissue that surrounds all your muscles helping to transfer load and stabilize different structures within your body. If this structure limits the muscles, skin, nerves, or other organ systems from moving then your body will also lack efficient motion. This can result in injuries down the line. After an injury, your body creates and uses fascia to help stabilize and heal the affected tissues. If we do not address injured fascia, proper healing cannot take place. Thus, your physical therapist will use their hands to help these structures heal and utilize the fascia to get you functioning more efficiently.
