Ashley Mekkelsen
PT, DPT
Ashley was born and raised in Vermont, spending much of her time outdoors with her family, downhill skiing, waterskiing, and snorkeling on Lake Champlain. She developed a fascination with science and the human body early on, and went on to study Neuroscience at the University of Vermont and conduct research on post-concussion syndrome. During undergrad, she also was an active participant in the women's rugby team and served as team captain.
Her passion for movement and helping people led her back to UVM to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Between degrees, she lived in Colorado, hiking, skiing, and playing rugby, where she met her partner. She is now excited to be back and ready to explore and enjoy all Colorado has to offer!
Interests
Ashley has experience working with a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions across both outpatient and inpatient settings. She is passionate about treating patients across the lifespan and adapting care to each individual’s needs. She especially enjoys building relationships with her patients and supporting them towards achieving their goals.
Treatment Philosophy
Ashley believes physical therapy should be centered around each patient, their goals, lifestyle, and what matters most to them. She uses a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription to help reduce pain, improve movement, and restore function. She strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment where patients feel heard and confident in their recovery. Her goal is to educate and empower patients to take an active role in their care and return to fully participating in their daily lives.
